Privacy Policy
BetterhalfTV (“we,” “us,” or “the Service”) is a shared watchlist app for movies, TV, and sports. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using BetterhalfTV (the website at betterhalftv.com, the web app at app.betterhalftv.com, or our native apps), you agree to this policy.
1. Who this covers
This policy applies to people who create an account or use BetterhalfTV. The Service is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. Email address and password (or other credentials you use to sign in). Authentication is provided by Google Firebase Authentication.
- Watchlist and sharing data. Titles you save, notes, ratings, watched status, sports picks, preferences, and related settings. If you share a room with a partner, that partner can see the shared watchlist and related room data.
- Device and usage signals. Basic technical data needed to run the app (for example, browser or app version, and notification permission status). We may store preferences on your device (such as local settings or caches).
- Notifications. If you enable alerts, we may schedule or deliver local or push-style notifications about your watchlist. You can turn these off in the app or in your device settings.
- Support messages. If you email us, we receive whatever you include in that message.
3. Information from third-party services
To show titles, artwork, schedules, and where-to-watch style information, we request data from third-party providers (including TMDB and sports schedule sources such as ESPN-related feeds). Those providers have their own privacy practices. We do not sell your account data to them; we use their catalogs to power Discover and detail screens.
4. How we use information
- Provide, sync, and improve the Service (including shared rooms between partners).
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Send optional watchlist-related notifications you opt into.
- Respond to support requests and protect the Service against abuse.
- Comply with law when required.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your watchlist content to serve third-party advertising.
5. How we share information
- Your partner. Content in a shared room is visible to members of that room.
- Service providers. We use infrastructure providers such as Google Firebase (authentication and cloud database hosting) to operate the Service.
- Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.
6. Data storage and security
Account and watchlist data are stored with our cloud providers. We use industry-standard safeguards appropriate to a consumer app, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Retention
We keep your account and watchlist data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or de-identify associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain something for legal, security, or operational reasons (for example, abuse prevention logs).
8. Your choices
- Update account details and watchlist content in the app.
- Leave a shared room or clear shared content using in-app sharing controls where available.
- Disable notifications in the app or in system settings.
- Request account deletion by emailing us (see Contact).
9. International users
We may process information in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. If you use the Service from another country, you consent to that transfer.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
